A strike was observed across Balochistan on Tuesday on 8th death anniversary of late Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti. The shutter down strike and wheel jam call was given by Baloch nationalist parties including Jamoohri Watan Party (JWP), Baloch Republican Party (BRP), Baloch Republican Students (BRS) and other parties. Nawab Akbar Bugti had been assassinated on 26th August 2006 on the orders of Dictator General Pervez Musharraf.
Nawab Akbar Bugti had served as State Minister for Defence of Pakistan, Governor (1973) and Chief Minister of Balochistan (1988) during his illustrious political career which spanned over five decades. As per reports reaching here shutter down was observed in Dera Bugti, Kuhlu, Mastung, Kalat, Kharan, Chaghi, Khuzdar, Turbat, Panjgur Lasbella and other respective areas. Strict Security measures were adopted by the provincial government to maintain law and order and avoid occurrence of any untoward incident in the province.
