Senior Provincial Minister for Education and Literacy Nisar Ahmed Khuhro on Saturday said a few thousand people have no right to remove an elected prime minister through sit-ins as the Constitution only authorises the parliament to change a PM. He expressed these views while addressing a seminar on topic: "Sindh Education Budget" organised by SPO at a hotel here.
He said a few thousand people have no right to oust a prime minister as only parliament has the right to remove a PM. He said PPP has rendered sacrifices for democracy and we will not let anybody to derail the democracy through an unconstitutional way. He vowed to fight for survival of democracy. Elahi Bux Baluch, Mustafa Baloch, Zulfiqar Nizamani, Noor Muhammad, Saeed-Ul-Hasan, Fayyaz Naich and Saif Imran also spoke.
Nisar Khuhro said: "A few people are saying that they don't need democracy but our survival lies in democracy." He said the provincial government has increased the pay scale of teachers in Sindh province in order to up-grade the educational standard and now teachers' salaries have been doubled as compared to the past. He said now it is the responsibility of the teachers to play their role for improvement of educational standard for a better future of the next generation.
He suggested the Metric, Intermediate and BA students to give lectures in their nearby educational institutions and they would be awarded additional 20 marks. He said efforts are underway to introduce a system for improvement of primary level education and students would be able to speak English fluently in future. Khuhro said Education Department had introduced a scholarship scheme for girl students from class VI to Matriculation and allocated Rs 120 million for this purpose. He said his department would disburse Rs 3,500 for village girls and Rs 2,500 for girls who reside in cities monthly through easypaisa.
He admitted that significant number of government run schools are lying closed in Sindh out of which a few were re-opened by the government, while the remaining schools would be re-opened soon. Nisar Khuhro said the population of Sindh is approximately 50 million out of which 8.2 million children are enrolled in schools while the rest of children are doing labour jobs due to poverty.
