Following the barbaric attack on media persons covering clashes between police and anti-government protestors of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique assured strict action against those police officials responsible for this gory act.
Talking to media persons during at red zone area, Rafique apologised to media on attack by police, saying that their brutal act really embarrassed the government and nobody will be allowed to attack media person and their vehicles in future.
He said that he would discuss this matter with Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar.
He demanded severe punishment for the police officers who attacked the media.
He said responsible police officers will be held accountable. He said media is performing its duty and forth pillar of the state.
Interestingly when the minister tired to stop police from attacking the media persons, policemen who were not familiar to Rafique also assaulted him but were stopped by his personal guards.
He kept stopping the policemen along with his guards but the officers disregarded his repeated pleas and kept breaking media vehicles.
