Sindh Minister for Health, Dr Saghir Ahmed here on Tuesday said the existent fee structure for the government owned medical college is not being revised nor any raise in the fee itself is being contemplated. Chairing a high level meeting in his office, the Minister said uniformity in admission procedure at all medical colleges, including private and public sectors is, however, under consideration.
"We are trying to ensure that private medical colleges and universities may offer admissions to eligible candidates on the basis of merit list issued by National Testing Service (NTS)," said Dr Saghir Ahmed. He said a three-member committee has also been constituted to approach Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) and finalise arrangements for admissions to Jinnah Sindh Medical College's dental and oral hygiene department during the forthcoming academic session. On the occasion the Minister was also briefed about the government's admission policy for medical colleges and universities.
Sindh Health Secretary, Iqbal Hussain Durrani, Additional Secretary for Health (Technical), Dr Aslam Peechoo, Special Secretary (Public Health), Dr Khalid, Vice Chancellor, Dow University of Health Sciences, Professor Umer Farooq, Vice Chancellor, People's University of Medical and Health Sciences, Azam Yousufani, Vice Chancellor Jinnah Sindh Medical University, Professor Tariq Rafi, Director (Administration), Liaquat University of Health Sciences, Dr Murtaza, Registrar of Shaheed Benazir Medical College-Larkana, Professor Sikander Ali, Deputy Project Director, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Medical College, Nawaz Panwhar were also present on the occasion.
