Khadija stabbing case: SC issues bailable warrants against Shah Hussain

The Supreme Court (SC) ordered on Wednesday Shah Hussain, who is accused of stabbing his fellow student Khadija Siddiqi, to submit a surety bond worth Rs 100,000.

During the hearing, the SC accepted victim Khadija's appeal against acquittal of Shah, local media reported. The SC issued bailable warrants for Shah and ordered him to submit a surety bond worth Rs 100,000.The case will be heard after the summer break, Khadija's lawyer Hassaan Rizvi wrote on Twitter.

Khadija was stabbed 23 times allegedly by Shah back in 2016. She miraculously survived the attack. Last year, judicial magistrate sentenced Shah to seven-year imprisonment. However, this year in March, a sessions court shortened his jail term from seven years to five years.

Shah then submitted an appeal in Lahore High Court (LHC), after which the high court Judge Ahmed Naeem acquitted Shah after listening to arguments from the lawyers of the defence and prosecution.

After his acquittal, Khadija announced that she will challenge LHC's verdict in the apex court. The same day the Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar took a suo motu notice and summoned record of the case.
