The management committee of Nishtar Hospital with a view to ensuring attendance of medical and paramedical staff during duty hours, has taken measures to tackle the culture of absenteeism by tracking their attendance in the wards of the hospital through bio-metric system.
The hospital's administration, headed by its Chairman Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi, has developed a special computer system which will enable the management to check whether the doctors and paramedical staff are present at their place of work or not.
Hailing the decision, general public said that such steps on the part of the hospital would discourage doctors who have developed the habit of arriving late and avoiding visits to their wards and out-door patients departments because of their engagements at private hospitals or clinic. They also criticised the medics for devoting their energies at private hospitals and clinic, instead of attending to patients in the government hospitals of which they are employees.
