Punjab government on Sunday released Rs 1.5 billion to provide Rs 100m to each of 15 flood-hit districts for carrying out rescue and relief activities. Chief Relief Commissioner Punjab Nadeem Ashraf during a meeting directed district administrations to inform about their requirements so that it could be met on time.
In some places, water level has started receding in the rivers.
He said that 126 relief camps have been set up in flood-hit areas where food and other essential items are being provided to 278 affectees regularly. Similarly, 22,883 animals have also been shifted to safer places.
Ashraf said that 23,700 tents, 126 boats, 54,636 mineral water bottles and 36,500 food hampers have been provided to the administrations of 15 flood-hit districts which have been distributed among flood affectees.
He said that the district administrations of the province have been directed to compile reports about the damages to houses. He said a strict action will be taken against the departments showing negligence during the floods.
He said that vaccine and fodder are being provided to the livestock regularly.
