Jamaat-i-Islami chief Sirajul Haq on Sunday condemned the killings of renowned journalists, Irshad Mastoi and Abdur Rasool Khajak, in Quetta and journalists across the country. Sirajul Haq arrived at the Quetta Press Club and expressed his condolence with the families of Irshad Mastoi and Abdur Rasool Khajak and the journalist community.
He said journalists could not keep bodyguards for their safety and it was duty of the state to provide security to journalists.
He also said that the killing of journalists in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was the failure of the system.
Irshad Mastoi, another journalist, Abdur Rasool Khajak, and the accountant of On-line news agency were killed in their office by unidentified armed men located on Jinnah Road in Quetta.
"All the political parties are standing with the journalists in this critical phase," he said.
The JI chief expressed sadness over the non-arrest of Mastoi's killers.
