ICE Canada canola futures rose on Friday after frost covered parts of Saskatchewan, halting a four-day skid. Temperatures dipped overnight to between -3 Celsius and -1 Celsius (26.6 to 30.2 Fahrenheit) in parts of Saskatchewan, the biggest canola-growing province, according to Environment Canada data. Gains were limited by commercial hedges. Funds seen holding a large net short position of about 45,000 to 50,000 contracts.
November canola added $2.50 to $413.70 per tonne. The nearby contract registered a 2 percent weekly loss. Chicago Board of Trade November soybeans added 3-3/4 US cents at US $9.85-1/4 per bushel. Malaysian October palm oil rose 0.6 percent.
