Country Director of World Bank Rachid Benmessaoud met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, here Tuesday. Matters regarding minimizing flood damages, water management and ongoing development projects in Punjab were discussed in the meeting. Talking on the occasion, Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that recent floods have caused huge devastation while losses to property, crops, cattle and infrastructure are massive.
He said that flood damages can be controlled through better management in future. He said that World Bank can extend co-operation in making planning for storage of water of River Chenab. He said that damages due to natural calamities can be minimised through comprehensive planning. Country Director of World Bank, Rachid Benmessaoud said that he is deeply grieved over losses caused by the flood.
