The Lahore High Court has directed the Home Secretary Punjab to decide the applications of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) about the illegal detention of the workers within two-day and submit report to the court. The petitioners' counsel pleaded the court to direct the government to release all the detained workers of both parties.
Meanwhile, the LHC also issued notice to Punjab IGP for September 22 in a petition seeking contempt of court proceedings against the respondents for arresting the PTI and PAT workers in presence of restrained court orders. A LHC full bench had restrained the government from taking PTI and PAT workers into illegal detention. The petitioner's counsel Gohar Nawaz Sindhu contended that police were continuously arresting the workers of PTI and PAT across the Punjab. He therefore prayed to the court to initiate contempt proceedings against the government and police.
