Minister for Railways Saad Rafique has said that the sit-ins have badly affected the day-to-day business of all the departments of the country. Speaking at a news conference here on Saturday, he said that despite hindrances created by the sit-ins, the government machinery was discharging its functions in a normal way. He said that the PTI allegation of organised rigging was a conspiracy to paralyse the government.
He asked Imran Khan to accept publicly his meeting with Tahirul Qadri in London, disclosing the deal agreed between them. Urging the organisers of the sit-ins to end their protest in the best interest of the country, he said it was the time to shun the politics of confrontation and work for the progress of the country. The minister said: "The PML-N could set up its government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but respecting the mandate of the PTI we provided an opportunity to PTI to form its government." He said that the All-Parties Conference was organised by the government to take the political and military leadership into the confidence for the operation against the terrorists. He said the operation Zarb-e-Azb was started against the terrorist in North Waziristan with the consent of the whole nation. He lauded the successes achieved by the security forces in the operation.
Saad Rafique said the government has started a number of projects to overcome the energy crisis in the country. He said due to the sit-ins, the energy projects that were to be signed with China have been badly affected. He said when the PML-N took over the government, the foreign reserves were only six billion dollars, but the same have now been increased to 13 billion dollars. He said the rupee was strengthened, but due to the sit-ins it has been devalued. The minister said that the government has decided to procure 75 new hi-tech locomotives to improve the performance of Pakistan Railways.
