Indus in low flood at Sukkur

After wreaking havoc in Punjab for two weeks, the first wave of the flash flood in the River Chenab entered Arabian Sea on Monday when 93,596 cusecs of water was discharged downstream the Kotri Barrage in the Indus Delta. The River Chenab had attained very high flood level at Marala on September 5, and passed through Khanki, Qadirabad, Trimmu, and Punjnad water headworks threatening the entire irrigation network in the eastern, northern, central and south Punjab.
The Flood Warning Centre said here on Monday that all the rivers were flowing normally except River Indus which was in low flood level at Sukkur and falling. The water inflow at Sukkur was 255,700 cusecs and at Kotri 129,191 cusecs. The water flow in River Indus was 79,300 cusecs at Tarbela, in River Kabul 16,600 cusecs at Nowshera, in River Jhelum 56,000 cusecs at Mangla, and in River Chenab 33,900 cusecs at Marala.
