Commissioner, Peshawar Division, Munir Azam has directed the abolition of all illegal trucks stands and shifting of the existing trucks stand on a specified spot. He has also ordered the acquisition of land for four specific official slaughter houses outside the city. The directives were issued during a meeting on illegal trucks' stands, miserable conditions of government slaughter houses held here in Commissioner House.
Those who attended were included Deputy Commissioner (DC), Syed Zaheer-ul-Islam, Administrator, Municipal Corporation Peshawar (MCP) Rasheed Ahmad Khan, Secretary, Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Naimatullah Khan, EXN, MCP Rasheedullah, Provincial Minister for Minerals, Ziaullah Afridi and other officials concerned.
The meeting discussed in detail matters relating to Haji Camp Truck Stands and illegal truck stands, which create hurdles in flow of smooth vehicular traffic and other problems. Briefing the meeting, Secretary RTA, Naimatullah Khan told that Peshawar have several illegal truck stands, which are causing hurdles in the flow of traffic.
During the meeting the Divisional Commissioner directed the district administration, MCP, Secretary RTA and traffic police for conducting full pledge operation against illegal stands and presentation of report to him in this regard. Similarly, the Secretary RTA was directed for presentation of report on illegal stands within a period of one week. He also issued orders for withholding proceedings on new applications for truck stands and permitting no new stands.
The commissioner directed the selection of new site for shifting truck stands outside the city and presentation of report to him in this regard with immediate effect. After revelation of Assistant Commissioner (AC), Mumtaz Ahmad regarding his raid on government slaughter house of Charsadda Road and its dilapidated conditions, he directed Deputy Commissioner for conducting raids on daily basis through Assistant Commissioner and Additional Assistant Commissioners and presenting report to him.
On this occasion, the Divisional Commissioner also directed the Administrator, MCP, Rasheed Ahmad Khan for selection of four sites outside the city for government slaughter houses, where all necessary equipment for slaughtering cattle in hygienic manner. At the end the Divisional Commissioner directed the presenting of report to him on both projects within a period of two weeks and utilisation of all available resources in the purpose.
