Sindh Minister for Information and Local Government, Sharjeel Inam Memon, has issued show-cause notices to 79 town municipal officers for their failure to submit six-month audit report. He also suspended five officers of Town Municipal Administrations (TMAs). The minister took this action against the municipal officers, while presiding over a high-level meeting of local government institutions, at KMC building.
It was attended by administrators and municipal commissioners of all municipal corporations and Town Municipal Administrations of Sindh. Secretary local government, Sindh,Sajjad Abbasi, and other senior officers were also present. The minister directed the Secretary local government to prepare a detailed list of the funds released to local government institutions during the last six months and their utilisation so that misappropriation and misuse of funds could be assessed.He also directed all the TMAs to submit a detailed six-month audit report of the funds utilised by them, within a week, otherwise strict action will be taken.
