An Anti-Terrorism Court-V (ATC-V) on Tuesday sentenced two accused Naeem and Sohail to five years imprisonment; however, it acquitted third accused Ayaz in money extortion case. According to prosecution, Naeem and Sohail were found guilty of demanding extortion of Rs 1 million from Muhammad Ramzan and hurling threats of killing him in case of non-payment within the jurisdiction of Ittehad Town police station, but Ayaz was found not guilty in the case.
ATC-V judge pronounced the verdict after recording evidences of witnesses and final arguments from both sides. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on them. The case FIR 190/2013 was registered under Section 385 (putting person in fear of injury in order to commit extortion) and 386(Extortion by putting a person in fear of death or grievous hurt) of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7of the Anti-Terrorism Act at the Ittehad Town Police Station.
