The government of Japan extended a grant of US $83,755 (approximately Rs 8.4 million) to Fatimid Foundation for "The Project for the Provision of Medical Equipment for Blood-Related Diseases to Fatimid Foundation" under its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) scheme.
The grant contract was signed at the Japan Information and Culture Center of the Consulate-General of Japan at Karachi, between Akira Ouchi, Consul General of Japan in Karachi and Rumi Dossal, Chief Operating Officer of Fatimid Foundation. The grant covers the cost of a cell separator, a coagulation analyser and two medical freezers which will significantly improve the diagnosis and treatment services for blood related diseases. The provision of this equipment will allow the test performance for missing coagulation factors, factor level estimation and inhibitor tests in the Haemophilia patients. Additionally, this equipment will improve the treatment capacities for Dengue Fever and Thalassemia patients.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ouchi said "Japan has been contributing to the improvement of the health sector in Pakistan and has decided to implement this project which will promote and strengthen the grassroots level health care system in Pakistan". Under the GGP scheme, Japan has funded more than 300 projects in Pakistan since 1989, and this is the 11th GGP project implemented by the Consulate-General of Japan at Karachi since 2009.-PR
