The Karachi Port handled 105,779 tonnes of cargo comprising 71,863 tonnes of import cargo and 33,916 tonnes of export cargo including 5,279 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 71,863 tonnes comprised of 32,137 tonnes of containerised cargo; 34,326 tonnes of bulk cargo: 14,000 tonnes of coal; 8,616 tonnes of wheat; 4,423 tonnes of DAP; 2,460 tonnes of soyabean meal; 3,974 tonnes of rape seed, 273 tonnes of sulphur; 580 tonnes of rock phosphate and 5,400 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 33,916 tonnes comprised of 21,324 tonnes of containerised cargo and 67 tonnes of general cargo; 9,300 tonnes of cement and 3,225 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,279 containers comprising 2,557 containers import and 2,722 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 602 of 20's and 875 of 40's loaded while 161 of 20's and 22 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 549 of 20's and 348 of 40's loaded containers while 445 of 20's and 516 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely Hanjin Scarlet, Sidra Ras Laffan, Tromso and Ikan Jenahar carrying containers, oil tankers and fertilizer respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were four vessels viz. Ponente, Northern Prelude, Super Lady and MT Karachi carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths.
There were four ships namely YM New Jersey, Sea Ambition, Frederike Selmer and Sila carrying containers, oil tanker, wheat and general cargo sailed out to sea on Thursday, while another ship namely Ponente carrying containers is expected to sail on Friday.
There were two vessels viz. Cosco Osaka and Arikun carrying containers and cement respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while four vessels viz. Al Abdali, Hyundai Busan, Ardmore Centurion and Strom Rider carrying containers, mogas and DAP respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 107,960 tonnes comprising 87,485 tonnes of import cargo and 20,475 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 2,875 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 87,485 tonnes includes 10,002 tonnes of edible oil; 10,487 tonnes of iron ore; 17,126 tonnes of rapeseed; 6,400 tonnes of chemical, 3,570 tonnes of urea and 39,900 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo includes 20,475 tonnes of containerised cargo. There were two ships namely CV CMA CGM Lamtime and MV Al Mahbooba with containers and chemical sailed out sea on Thursday morning, while another ship namely CV Maersk Chicago with containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of nine vessels viz. CV Maersk Chicago, CV CMA CGM Lamtime, CV CMA CGM Debusy, MV Atlantic Glory, MV Al Mahbooba, MV Beagle VI, MV Mandrain Ocean, MV Amsel and MT Histria Agata currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, urea, rapeseed, chemical, iron ore and edible oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as six ships namely CMA CGM Florida, Martha Schulte, Kang Huan, Sandra, Stolt Endurance and Turkgaz with containers, rape seed, wheat, chemical and LPG are at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There were six vessels viz. carrying containers, chemical and edible oil took berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There are three ships namely CV CMA CGM Florida, CV Martha Schulte and MV Stolt Endurance with containers and chemical due to arrive on Thursday.
