Usman Ghani has been elected unopposed as central chairman of the Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PCMEA), while Qamar Zia has been elected as Senior Vice Chairman of the association for the North Zone and SM Shahzad Hanif as vice chairman for the South Zone. The newly-elected North Zone SVC of PCMEA Qamar Zia has expressed his resolve to promote the soft image of Pakistan across the world through exports of handmade carpets.
He said that the PCMEA is providing a significant opportunity for exporters to enhance country's brand visibility and to promote new and existing products. He said that the association, in partnership with TDAP is seeking to expand world market share of hand knotted carpets and develop domestic market as well by removing all kinds of hurdles in this regard. He said that PCMEA has explored new markets like China and Turkey, as latter has now become the fourth largest importer of hand-knotted carpets of Pakistan.
