Flood-hit people: payment of first instalment of Rs 25,000 to begin from October 1: Shahbaz
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said the Punjab government has given historic package of billions of rupees for payment of financial assistance to flood affectees for compensation of their losses. He said that under the first phase, payment of first instalment of Rs 25,000 per family will be started from October 1 to the flood affectees for compensation of losses caused to their houses.
He said under the second phase, the payment of second instalment of financial assistance will be started from October 20 to the affectees after assessing the losses caused to crops. He said this while presiding over a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Flood Relief here on Saturday.
The Director-General of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) gave a detailed briefing with regard to payment of financial assistance to the flood affectees. Punjab Ministers Colonel Shuja Khanzada (Retd), Dr Farrukh Javed, Bilal Yasin, MPA Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, the Chief Secretary, the Secretary of Home, the Secretary of Information, the Commissioner of Lahore Division, the Chairman of Punjab Information Technology Board and concerned officials attended the meeting. Addressing the meeting, Shahbaz Sharif said the payment of compensation of losses to the distressed brothers and sisters was being made in days and not in months. He said the third party audit of survey of losses caused to houses and crops would also be conducted. He said deserving people will be provided their right at every cost.
