Achieving a major breakthrough, National Engineering Services Pakistan (Nespak) private limited was successful in registering in UK as Nespak UK Limited for undertaking international projects. According to the spokesperson of the Nespak the state-owned Nespak achieved this milestone during the recent visit of Amjad A Khan, MD Nespak along with two senior officials to London.
MD Nespak held a series of meetings with leading UK company executives to discuss potential business opportunities. They also met Imran Mirza, Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan to UK. During the meeting, which lasted for an hour, Pakistan Ambassador showed keen interest to involve NESPAK in the construction of New Office Block in the Embassy along with renovation and refurbishment of Embassy owned buildings in London. A proposal in this regard will be sent to the Embassy shortly.
During the meetings with UK based companies, presentations were made about NESPAK capabilities in the Engineering Consultancy sector and discussions held for the possibilities of joining hands together for projects in UK and other countries, which will create new job opportunities for the Pakistani Professionals. On this occasion, foreign executives admired the services being rendered by NESPAK and expressed their keen desire to work with NESPAK on joint venture mode and/or on outsourcing basis. These companies include BuroHappold Engineering, Haskoning DHV Ltd, Mott MacDonald UK and Atkins Global UK.
NESPAK has on its roll the best professionals in various fields of Engineering Consultancy and it has also attracted a large number of foreign qualified experts with the result that it now offers services of high quality by experienced professionals. At present, NESPAK has staff strength of over 4,200 employees including 3,100 highly qualified Engineers, Architects, Planners, Geologists, Economists and other professionals.
Once the projects start going in UK then NESPAK plans to open an independent office in London and till that time NESPAK will operate from the office of one of its associated firms located in London. It has also been agreed to sign a MoU with M/s Renoir of UK, which will be signed in Islamabad in the presence of Minister of Water and Power and the British High Commissioner in Pakistan within a next few days.
