The Karachi Port handled 232,693 tonnes of cargo comprising 197,108 tonnes of import cargo and 35,585 tonnes of export cargo including 4,052 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 197,108 tonnes comprised of 50,753 tonnes of containerised cargo; 82,535 tonnes of bulk cargo: 40,821 tonnes of coal; 12,041 tonnes of wheat; 15,633 tonnes of DAP; 9,109 tonnes of soyabean meal; 3,610 tonnes of rape seed; 1,321 tonnes of rock phosphate and 63,820 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 35,585 tonnes comprised of 29,215 tonnes of containerised cargo and 6,370 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,052 containers comprising 2,354 containers import and 1,698 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. The break-up of imported containers shows 1,032 of 20's and 641 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 20 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 219 of 20's and 235 of 40's loaded containers while 387 of 20's and 311 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely Cosco Osaka, APL Chicago, Al Abdali, Hanjin Busan, MT Karachi and Ardmore Centurion carrying containers and oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were nine vessels viz. Hanjin White, MOL Direction, PAC Aries, Oriental Lotus, Ardmore Centurion, FPMC P Glory, Storm Rider, BSLE Vivy and Atlantic Bulker carrying containers, oil tankers, fertilizer and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely Peace Pearl and BSLE Vivy carrying seeds and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Monday, while four ships namely Hanjin White, MOL Direction, FPMC P Glory and Atlantic Bulker carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively are expected to sail on Tuesday.
There were three vessels viz. Hyundai Bangkok, CS Tina and Ioanna D carrying containers and DAP respectively due to arrive on Monday, while eight vessels viz. Elbwolf, Kota Kaya, RBD Anema-e-Core, Songa Topaz, Sypress, Theotokos, Sapphire Seas and Julia Oldendroff carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, DAP, wheat and coal respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
The total export cargo includes 4,199 tonnes of containerised cargo. There was one ship namely MV Beagle VI with bulk cargo sailed out sea on Monday morning, while two more ships namely Chemroad Sea and Maple with oil tankers are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of seven vessels viz. CV Maule, Maritime Newanda, Kang Huan, MV Beagle VI, Maple, Chemroad Sea and MT Al Mahfoza currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, steel coil, fertilizer, rapeseed, palm oil and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as two ships namely Sandra and Autaurus with wheat and palm oil are at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There were three vessels viz. CV MSC vidhi, CV Safmarine Ngami and MV Autaurus carrying containers and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday. There are no ships due to arrive on Monday.
