Seeking disqualification of PM, Nisar: Supreme Court moved for formation of larger bench
The Supreme Court has been urged Tuesday to constitute a larger bench to hear the case of Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan disqualification from Parliament under Article 62 of the Constitution.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Lawyers Forum's Gohar Nawaz Sindhu had filed the application to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to form a larger bench to hear his petition, seeking Prime Minister and Interior Minister disqualification from the National Assembly on the grounds that both the leaders have given false statement on the floor of the house regarding role of army chief in resolving the current political impasse. Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PMLQ) chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf member Ishaq Khakwani had also filed petitions of the same nature in the Supreme Court. However, none of them has filed application for larger bench to hear the instant matter.
