The Karachi Port handled 116,622 tonnes of cargo comprising 82,778 tonnes of import cargo and 33,844 tonnes of export cargo including 2,377 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 82,778 tonnes comprised of 31,492 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,059 tonnes of general cargo; 37,936 tonnes of bulk cargo: 14,051 tonnes of coal; 8,634 tonnes of wheat; 10,950 tonnes of DAP; 3,773 tonnes of soyabean meal; 528 tonnes of rock phosphate and 12,291 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. The total export cargo of 33,844 tonnes comprised of 11,759 tonnes of containerised cargo and 22,085 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 2,377 containers comprising 675 containers import and 1,702 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The break-up of imported containers shows 504 of 20's and 85 of 40's loaded while 1 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 268 of 20's and 245 of 40's loaded containers while 404 of 20's and 270 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely Hyundai Bangkok, El Gurdabia, Thor Integrity and Bao Bright carrying containers, oil tanker, coal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were eight vessels viz. APL Guangzhou, Elbwolf, Kota Kaya, YM Elixir, RBD Anema-e-Core, Ioanna D, Theotokos and Noble Coral carrying containers, oil tanker, fertilizer and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were three ships namely Elbwolf, BW Columbia and RM Dynasty carrying containers, oil tanker and wheat respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while four ships namely YM Elixir, Vega Libra, RBD Anema-e-Core and Storm Rider carrying containers, oil tankers and DAP respectively are expected to sail on Friday. There were two vessels viz. Ever Result and Lissy Schulte carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday, while four vessels viz. Al Abdali, ER Helgoland, Torm Clara and Star Masaya carrying containers, oil tanker and DAP respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 110,848 tonnes comprising 77,677 tonnes of import cargo and 33,171 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 4,873 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 77,677 tonnes includes 34,078 tonnes of furnace oil; 10,400 tonnes of palm oil; 7,929 tonnes of project cargo; 8,470 tonnes of wheat and 16,800 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 33,171 tonnes includes 721 tonnes of cement and 32,450 tonnes of containerised cargo. There were two ships namely MV NPS Mosa and MV Autaurus with oil tanker sailed out sea during last 24 hours, while another ship namely CV Maersk Kolkata with containers is expected to sail on Thursday.
A total number of twelve vessels viz. CV Maersk Kolkata, CV Maersk Kingston, CV CMA CGM Maupassant, Han Zai, MV NPS Mosa, MV Autaurus, BBC Indiana, Bao Bright, Al Salam-II, Siteam Leader, Sandra and MV KPS-1 Alican Bey currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, project cargo, wheat, palm oil, diesel oil and power ship respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as four ships namely Hansa America, OOCL Kobe, Roscho Poplar and Bright World with containers, rapeseed and acetic acid are at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
There were eight vessels carrying containers, project cargo, wheat, diesel oil and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, FAP Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There are three ships namely CV Hansa America, OOCL Kobe and Bright World with containers and acetic acid due to arrive on Thursday.
