World Wide Fund for Nature-Pakistan (WWF-P) through its Green Skills Project held a ceremony to distribute farmer toolkits and veterinary toolkits among less privileged farming families. The ceremony was held at Jinnah Hall, Khanewal where approximately 600 toolkits were distributed among people.
According to a press release issued by WWF-P on Saturday, Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan, Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, attended the event as the chief guest on the occasion. Arshia Khurshid, Project Manager, Green Skills Project, WWF-P, gave a brief overview of the project. Through this initiative, abilities and advancement of 300 trainees was enhanced through training in the field of renewable/sustainable energy, livestock and after-crop management. The 300 trainees were instrumental in the further training of 2,300 farming families.
The programme was carried out as a pilot project in four districts of Punjab (Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Khanewal, and Jhang). The minister appreciated the role of WWF-P in empowering communities and further noted that WWF-P's commitment to Pakistan for rural youth is inspiring. DCO Khanewal Usman Moazzam, civil society, and media persons were also present on the occasion. The project is supported by Fund for Innovative Training, created under TVET Reform Support Programme, which is co-funded by the European Union, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands, the Royal Norwegian Embassy and the Federal Republic of Germany.-PR
