Former President and Chairman of All Pakistan Muslim League General Pervaiz Musharraf (Retd) has said that formation of a reform-oriented government has become imperative with the consultation of armed forces and political parties. Talking to party Secretary General Dr Amjad over the telephone on Saturday, he said formation of a government to carry out reforms and organise transparent elections to give the gift of peoples' government to the people was need of the hour.
He said change was essential for the establishment of real democratic system in the country and emphasised that the present political and electoral set up was dangerous for the very survival of the country. He said for the stability and progress of Pakistan, prosperity of the people, strong and sustainable democracy was essential but pointed out that without electoral reforms, neither transparent elections were possible nor election of a representative government.
Referring to the violation of ceasefire by the Indian forces along the LoC, Musharraf said Indian should not test the patience of Pakistan army. He warned that if the defenders of Pakistan lost patience, India would face a bigger defeat than 1965. He said the failure of the government to check acts of terrorism was a big question mark on its performance. He condemned the bomb blast in Kohat and said blasts on religious festivals spoke of failure of the government.
