The persistent hot and humid weather turned pleasant as day and night temperature fell by 5 to 8 degrees Celsius on the third day of Eidul Azha in the plains of Punjab and hilly areas of the country on Wednesday. Pakistanis celebrated the third day of Eidul Azha on Wednesday with religious zeal and fervor, sacrificing cattle to follow the Sunnah of Hazarat Ibrahim (AS).
Besides fulfilling religious obligation of sacrificing animal, the pleasant weather provided a good opportunity to people to throng parks and other public places with families, with many busy in entertaining friends /family members. Meteorological department said that rain-thundershower occurred at scattered places in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab, Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
It recorded rainfall as follows (in mm) Mangla=48, Jhelum=38, Sialkot A/P=35, Dir =29, Sialkot Cantt=23, Muzaffarabad=22, Chakwal=21, Kakul=20, Rawalakot=19, Mianwali & Gujranwala =18 (each), Pattan=16, Lower Dir & Mandi Bahauddin =15(each), Kalam & Saidu Sharif=14(each), Gujrat =11, Garhi Dupatta=08, Hunza, Bunji & Kotli = 07 (each), Peshawar A/P, Gilgit & Astore=06 (each), Islamabad A/P=05, Chilas = 04, Islamabad Z/P= 04, Peshawar city=03. Cherat & Malamjabba =02(each), Faisalabad, Jhang, Lahore city=01, Lahore A/P & Islamabad A/P =Trace (each).
Rain-thunderstorm is expected at isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, and Kohat divisions), upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, and Lahore divisions) Makran division, Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Hot and dry weather is expected in other parts of the country. In Lahore the maximum temperature dropped from 35 C to 27 C and minimum dipped from 26 to 21 degrees Celsius.
