The Right to Public Services Act 2014 has practically become operational in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as complaints of citizens have started pursuing in and being initiated for providing them services under the Act. Recently, Faisal Ghani, a resident of Takhtbai district of Mardan, in his application filed before the RTS Commission stated that despite several requests his FIR was not being registered by the SHO concerned.
The aggrieved person also informed that he approached the DPO Mardan for getting his report registered, but in vain. He, therefore, approached the RTS Commission for redressal of his grievance. The Commission summoned both the applicant and the SHO concerned. After hearings the parties, the bench of RTS Commission issued directives to the DPO concerned to summon both the parties and pass an explicit order either accepting the appeal of Faisal Ghani or registering an FIR within 30 days.
On September 29, 2014 the SHO informed the Chief Commissioner RTS in writing that as per the appellant request FIR No 684 was registered at Police Station Takhtbai and investigation had started. RTS, Commission authorities commented that more and more awareness is being created among the public about the law, which shall go a long way in building trust between the citizens and the state. The Chief Commissioner also acknowledged the interest taken by the DPO, Mardan Mr Gul Afzal Khan Afridi in responding to the genuine need of an aggrieved citizen under the Act.
