Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan vowed on Sunday to continue the protest campaign until putting an end to the alleged nexus of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and former president and Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.
Addressing a relatively thin number of participants of the party's sit-in here at D-Chowk on the 60th Day of the protest, Imran said that the alleged partnership of Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari has ruined the country on economic and other fronts.
He alleged that Sharif family is bank defaulter to the tune of Rs3 billion and, under the law, Nawaz Sharif cannot take part in the country's elections. He opined that Asif Ali Zardari was protecting Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for the reason that his foreign money would be brought back to the country if PTI came into power.
"Both, Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari is protecting each other's money on the pretext of the democracy", he further alleged, adding that if PTI came into power it would bring $200 billion Pakistan's money back to the national exchequer. "PTI government will bring Pakistan's wealth back to country from Swiss banks", he added.
He lamented that in the past people of the country did not support his call to prevent Asif Ali Zardari from becoming president of Pakistan. "Asif Ali Zadari was illegible for the office of the president of the country for various corruption cases against him", he said, adding that the present rulers and those in the parliament were the outcome of the NRO which was annulled by the apex court.
The PTI chief vowed that his fight would continue against the corrupt rulers and the system till his last breath, adding that a revolution was in the offing in the near future to create a "New Pakistan".
Referring to the tax evasion and assets declarations of the rulers, he said that if the rulers did not pay their taxes then how they could expect the common man to pay taxes, adding that the money being collected through taxes were also not being utilised transparently.
He said that it was essential for the real democracy that all politicians should declare their income and assets so that the people could be able to know about their source of earning. He told the participants that everything would become clear provided Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari declared their real assets.
Imran also called upon the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to publish Form 14 and 15 on its website, failing which his party would knock the door of the court. He was of the view that no corrupt man would be elected to the parliament if ECP performs his duty properly and honestly.
He lamented that the rulers are becoming richer by making money through unfair means, while the poor are becoming poorer with each passing day.
Imran also maintained that Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, who had filed affidavit by admitting that Nawaz Sharif was involved in money laundering, but later backtracked from his statement and joined hands for plundering the country.
He also congratulated the participants for making history by staging sit-in for 60 consecutive days, saying the sit-in would continue until Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif tendered his resignation.
He also maintained that the slogan of "Go Nawaz Go" was now also being echoed across the country. He said that the slogan has now become poplar among the children and adults.
Claiming that he would soon be victorious in his struggle, he said: "The slogan of "Go Nawaz Go" has spread in the country as a mark of resistance against tyranny and unjust political system."
Referring to Multan incident, he said that the party was scheduled to celebrate the 60th day of the sit-in, but the tragedy converted it into mourning. He claimed that the turnout in Multan rally has been reported to be as high as 300,000, adding that the party was even not expecting such a large number of participants. Imran told the participants that the government was planning to disconnect power supply to his residence.
