Veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Geelani, has lashed out at New Delhi and pro-India parties in held Kashmir for showing keenness to hold the so-called elections in the flood-hit territory.
Syed Ali Geelani in a statement issued in occupied Srinagar said, "At the time when destructive floods have snatched everything from the Kashmiri people and they are living a life in coma, even talking about the election drama is sorrowful and it proves that the rulers in New Delhi and occupied Srinagar have nothing to do with the miseries of the people and they are only concerned about their benefits, reported KMS".
He said that holding of sham polls in presence of 750,000 troops in Kashmir was although a military operation and a cruel joke but talking about it in this situation which arose after the recent devastating floods was tantamount to adding insult to the injuries of the people.
He said that by announcing election drama, New Delhi wanted to give an impression to the international community that everything was normal in occupied Kashmir. "Recent floods have exposed New Delhi, National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party and other pro-India political parties.
They have proved that they are only interested in power," he added.
Syed Ali Gilani pointed out that when floods hit Kashmir pro-India politicians disappeared from the scene and did nothing to save people, nor did they play any role in reaching out to the affected people with relief and aid.
He said that now when the elections were nearing, they had started to come out from their hides and were showing fake love and affection for the people who were left to die in floods.
