Members of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf organising committee Fata demanded the immediate cessation of drones strikes on tribal region, and termed the attacks were against sovereignty and territorial integrity of the county, which must be halted. They also announced to hold a grand loya 'Jirga' to discuss the growing issues of the tribesmen.
The demand was made by the committee member Iqbal Afridi while addressing at a news conference at press club here on Tuesday. Accompanied by Dr Khalil, Guldad Khan, Nazar Nawaz, Daud Khan and others, he said the members of organising committee would hold a meeting with Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan, followed by consultation with tribal elders.
Afridi informed that a loya Jirga would be held in Nishtar Hall Peshawar or the party provincial office, which will be addressed elders from various agencies of Fata along with people from different walk of life, to give their suggestion and way forward for resolution of tribesmen issues. The government, PTI tribal leader said the government had launched military operation in North Waziristan agency, while strikes of US unmanned planes also continued in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas, allegedly killing innocent civilians, particularly children, women and aged.
He viewed that the Pakistan is a sovereign and independent state; despite the fact the sovereignty being challenged by violations of airspace several occasions, which has been created grave unrest among the tribal region. Afridi said if there was presence of terrorists in tribal areas, then US should identify them, to take action against them with support of military forces.
