The Meteorological department has predicted scattered thunderstorm / rain with snowfall over the hills would occur over Malakand, Hazara, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala divisions, Islamabad, Gilgit- Baltistan and Kashmir today (Wednesday) while cool weather is expected over rest of the country.
It said westerly trough is still affecting upper parts of the country and likely to move over Kashmir and its adjoining hilly areas during next 12-18 hours. It said scattered rain-thunderstorm occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab including Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan on Tuesday. It recorded rainfall as under:
Parachinar=37, Malamjabba & Lower Dir=29(each), Saidu Sharif=25, Multan=23, Dir=18, Murree=13, Kakul=11, Balakot, Garhi Dupatta & Rawalakot=10 (each), Muzaffarabad & Drosh=09 (each), Kotli, Chitral, T.T.Singh & Mirkhani=07 (each), Faisalabad, Islamabad Z/P & Kalam=06(each), Jhang & Bannu=05(each), Gujranwala & Okara=04(each), Gujrat, Cherat, Jhelum, Bahawalnagar & Bahawalpur City=03(each), Sialkot A/P & Johrabad=02(each), Mangla, Sahiwal, Kohat, D.I.Khan, D.G.Khan, Bahawalpur A/P & Peshawar City=01(each), Lahore (A/P & City), Peshawar A/P, Kasur, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot Cantt & Chakwal=Trace (each).
The minimum temperature in plains of Punjab fell to 15 degree Celsius to 18 C while Kalat faced the coldest night of the season with temperature falling to zero followed by, Sh. Manda (Quetta) 3 C, Skardu 3.2 Kalam, 4 C, Darosh 3.7 C, Hunza and Astore 4.5 C, Malamjabba, Parachinar 5 C. The maximum temperature in the country was recorded at Lasbella, Turbat 36°C, Karachi, Gawadar, Mithi and Jiwani 35°C.
