The Lahore High Court here on Tuesday restrained Election Tribunal from giving the final verdict in a petition challenging the elections results of PP-78. Earlier, Member Punjab Assembly Rashida Yaqoob through her counsel told to the court that the elections of PP-78 had been challenged before an election tribunal.
The counsel submitted that she was elected Member Punjab Assembly from Jhang DISTRICT and her opponent candidate Maulana Ahmad Ludhyanvi challenged her victory before an election tribunal. But the petition through which the election results of PP-78 were challenged contained unverified documents, he added. He said the petitioner made fake allegations. The Election Tribunal cannot decide such application as per the law, the counsel argued and prayed to the court to restrict the Election Tribunal from giving the final verdict till disposal of the petition before the court.
