Speakers at a seminar stressed the need of proactive approach to reap full benefits of advances in communication and changing market demand especially in the services sector. These views were expressed by different speakers at a seminar on 'Sustainability: Imagine. Implement', which was organised by Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) held at local hotel on the other day.
The speakers were Javaria Hassan, Country Manager, CIMA Pakistan, Mohammad Farid Alam, CEO AKD Securities, Dulith Herath - Founder and CEO of Kapruka Pvt Ltd from Sri Lanka, Professor Ahmed Khalid form Bond University, Australia and Akmal Hanuk, CEO IBFC UK. They said that sustain ability was not only the key for the continued success of individuals, business organisations as well as economies but also became very challenging in today's volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous business environment.
They said that national competitiveness provided a foundation to the country that enabled its human and natural resources to attract global attention - either as a trade partner or as a prime location for Foreign Direct Investment and Foreign Portfolio Investment. They urged young business minds to look for opportunity even in a problem and to be patient on the road of success.
Speakers further said that government functionaries and businesses should work for a mutual cause and continuity and added that right vision, policy and the commitment to execute was the key for a winning strategy. They said that sustainability of business lay in the ability to sustain governance and there could be no sustainable economic development without human capital development. The intellectual engagement at this international summit was concluded with a highly interactive and enthusiastic panel discussion followed by question and answers.
