Sindh police has deployed 22,500 policemen to ensure foolproof security arrangements during Pakistan People's Party's public meeting scheduled to be held on Saturday near Quaid's mausoleum. A large number of people are expected to attend the meeting which would begin on Saturday afternoon and would continue till late into the evening.
According to a press release of Sindh police issued here on Friday, a foolproof plan has been chalked out to provide foolproof security to the leaders and the participants of the public meeting as well as to avoid any untoward incident. It said that zonal deputy inspectors general of police (DIGPs) would be responsible for all security arrangements in their respective jurisdictions, whereas additional IGP, Karachi, will be the overall in-charge of the entire security arrangements.
Search and surveillance parties would also work vigilantly by using some 110 walk-through gates, whereas many CCTV monitoring cameras would help in ensuring foolproof security arrangements at the venue of the public meeting, besides there will be some 27 parking lots. The press release said that police has made strict security arrangements for the VIPs and general public.
Karachi police has requested the authorities concerned to suspend all mobile networks in the city on Saturday. Use of remotely-operated air-borne cameras by the media will not be allowed, the release added. Meanwhile, Karachi traffic police has also issued a separate operational plan for the smooth flow of vehicular traffic on Saturday. It includes traffic diversion and parking arrangements.
