KP assembly: Joint opposition expected to give ruling PTI a hard time

The joint opposition in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has prepared strategy to give tough-time to ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, amid a no-confidence motion against chief minister Pervez Khattak, as the provincial assembly will meet on October 23rd, after lapse of four months. While, the treasury benches have also evolved plan to frustrate the motion in upcoming assembly session.
However, opposition parties said they would not withdraw the no-confidence motion against the chief minister. They said that any decision about fate of the motion would be taken by opposition collectively. The opposition parties consisting of PPP, PML-N, JUI-F, ANP and QWP have filed a joint no-confidence motion against the chief minister on August 19th, to stave off a possible dissolution of the assembly as threatened by the PTI Chairman Imran Khan. Nevertheless, the opposition parties in the house look double-minded about the no-confidence motion against the chief minister.
The opposition said they moved the no-confidence resolution to save the system, not the government. If Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly had been dissolved, it would have caused a political crisis in the country. Though, it has moved a motion, it has yet to come up with a clear plan of action on it.
When PTI launched 'sit-in' movement against the PML-N government in the centre, there were widespread speculations that PTI chairman Imran Khan could use the dissolution of the provincial assembly as a trump card to force Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif into announcing mid-term elections in the country. However, it has been learnt that there has been division among opposition parties over the no-confidence motion, subsequently, the no trust motion maybe withdrawn. Moreover, treasury benches-comprising of PTI and JI were making strategy how to frustrate the motion. In this regard, Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Asad Qaiser met JI's Ameer Siraj-ul-Haq, a day earlier at Almarkaz Islami and discussed it in details. It has been learnt that the government may form a Jirga to be sent to the opposition parties to convince them to take the motion back. The opposition parties have vowed that they would take a joint decision in this regard.
