Three including mother and son died and six others wounded when a pick-up van fell into River Swat at Kalam valley of district Swat. The accident occurred due to the dilapidated condition of the Kalam Road in which seven cattle also killed.
According to Kalam Police the ill-fate Datsun pick-up bearing registration No Peshawar C 6876 was taking a family from Gabral to Sheen area of district Swat where due to the dilapidated condition the driver lost control over the vehicle and it fell to River Swat. Three members of the same family including Sher, son of Safdar, and his mother Taj Meena wife of Safdar and driver Taj Mohammad son of Fazal-ur-Rehman died on the spot while six other members of the same family injured.
The injured have been identified as Alifzada son of Safdar, Afsana daughter of Safdar, Babu Jana wife of Rahamdad, Sher Zada son of Sherin, Shamim son of Rahamdad and Masoom Jan son of Yusuf. The condition of minor Afsana was stated to be critical. The injured were rushed to Civil Hospital, Kalam where due to lack of facilities the injured have to face severe difficulties. Further treatment, the injured were later shifted to Saidu Sharif Hospital.
It has a worth to mention here that due to the dilapidated conditions of the Kalam Road, 18 members of the same family were killed in an accident at Pashmal recently. The road was damaged in the devastated flood of July 2010, but despite the passage of five years it could not be repaired.
