Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is aggressive against Pakistan as Western powers backing him due to the nuclear assets of Pakistan. But Pakistan is safe having nuclear capability. These thoughts were shared by speakers during seminar on the topic of "Pakistan's present political situation and the Indian aggression" held here on Sunday at the TECH Society Club.
Professor (Dr) Mugheesuddin Sheikh, former Chairman of Mass Communication, Punjab University, Qayyum Nizami, former Minister of State, Salman Abid, Political Analyst, Dr Muhammad Sadiq, President of Pakistan Visionary Forum, Zubair Sheikh, Jameel Gishkori, Muhammad Yaqoob and Muhammad Zubair also spoke in the seminar.
Qayyum Nizami said that Indian PM Modi belongs to RSS. Bhutto had said they (Pakistanis) would eat grass but not forego the nuclear programme and that was the safeguard against Indian aggression.
Diplomatic channels should be used to resolve disputes between Indian and Pakistan instead of wars, Nizami added. He emphasised the need for political and economic stability which is the actual weapon for defence against the Indian attacks.
Dr Muhammad Sadiq said Indian wanted to possess Pakistan's resources like water. Salman Abid said India while benefiting from internal instability in Pakistan was exerting undue external pressures from both Afghanistan and Iran sides. He said that most of the political set-ups in the world, including the United States of America and India, were supported by corporate democracy through the business community to safeguard their business interests world-wide. That was the reason behind poverty in India, Salman added.
Professor Dr Mugheesuddin said Pakistan was lagging behind in terms of intellectual thoughts and "we must focus on our younger generation to ensure positive change in our society". He also pinpointed that democratic principles were not being observed in political parties of Pakistan.
