The Karachi Port handled 270,959 tonnes of cargo comprising 236,401 tonnes of import cargo and 34,558 tonnes of export cargo including 5,458 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 236,401 tonnes comprised of 85,214 tonnes of containerised cargo; 23,320 tonnes of general cargo; 58,660 tonnes of bulk cargo: 34,000 tonnes of coal; 5,790 tonnes of wheat; 14,384 tonnes of DAP; 4,486 tonnes of soyabean meal and 69,207 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 34,558 tonnes comprised of 34,386 tonnes of containerised cargo and 172 tonnes of general cargo. As many as 5,458 containers comprising 3,301 containers import and 2,157 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. The breakup of imported containers shows 1,671 of 20's and 735 of 40's loaded while 138 of 20's and 11 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 604 of 20's and 289 of 40's loaded containers while 757 of 20's and 109 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were eleven ships namely Cosco Kobe, Philadelphia, APL Chicago, Sakaka, Songa Sapphire, BW Kronborg, Moor, Theotokos, Amber Alena, Da Zhi and Zhe Hai-522 carrying containers, oil tankers, fertiliser and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were seven vessels viz. AS Carelia, MOL Direction, Hanjin Indigo, Al-Mahboobah, Liberty Pride, Genco Loire and Zhe Hai-522 carrying containers, chemical, vehicle, fertiliser and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were six ships namely AS Carelia, MOL Direction, Hanjin Indigo, Al-Mahboobah, Liberty Pride and Shun Fu carrying containers, chemical, vehicle and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Monday, while two ships namely Spar Libra and Nathan Brandon carrying coal and DAP respectively are expected to sail on Tuesday.
There were three vessels viz. ACX Crystal, RBD Anema-e-Core and Reliance-II carrying containers, oil tanker and molases respectively due to arrive on Monday, while five vessels viz. OOCL Chicago, Kota Kamil, Asbong-1, Chembulk Singapore and Henricus-J carrying containers, carbon black, chemical and vehicle respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 68,378 tonnes comprising 30,641 tonnes of import cargo and 37,737 export cargo inclusive 1,524 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 30,641 tonnes includes 5,500 tonnes of rape seed; 1,180 tonnes of project cargo, 8,043 tonnes of chemical and 15,918 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 37,737 tonnes includes 19,462 tonnes of crude oil; 2,189 tonnes of cement and 16,086 tonnes of containerised cargo. There were five ships namely CV ACX Crystal, CV MSC Antigua, MV Elpidagr MT Ocean Mercury and MV Horrison-M with containers, cement, oil tanker and project cargo sailed out sea on Monday morning, while two ships namely MT Rosco Poplar and MV Clipper Cristobal with rape seed and general cargo are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels viz. CV ACX Crystal, CV MSC Antigua, MV Elpidagr, MV Melos, MV Clipper Cristobal, MV Horrison-M, MT Rosco Poplar, Argent Cosmos, Ocean Mercury and MT Feng Hai-35 currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, sand, general cargo, project cargo, rape seed, chemical, crude oil and edible oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as twelve ships namely Safmarine Ngami, Rochelle, Kai Hong, KN Forest, Zulal, Oceanus-9, Incle Karadeniz, Glory Trader, MT Lahore, MT Quetta, Ginga Panther and Ecenur-K with containers, cement, chemical, wheat, chemical, sunseed, furnace oil, crude oil and edible oil are at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There were five vessels carrying containers, chemical, general cargo and project cargo took berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Sunday. There are six ships namely CV Safmarine Ngami, CV Rochelle, KH Forest, Kai Hong, Incle Karadeniz and MT Lahore with containers, cement, wheat and furnace oil due to arrive on Monday.
