Equity on Tuesday moved both ways on Lahore Stock Exchange and finally settled in green zone amid slightly improved trading turnover. However, the LSE-25 index lost 9.72 points to close at 5287.40 against 5297.12 of Monday while transaction volume was increased to 921,600 shares compared with day earlier volume of 820,100 shares.
The market was opened on a mixed note and kept on moving up and down throughout the day. The volatility forced the investors to adopt cautious approach that resulted in low trading activity. Honda Atlas Cars, Cherat Cement, General Tyre & Rubber, Nishat Chunian, Maple Leaf Cement and Avanceon Limited attracted buyers while PPL, OGDC, Attock Refinery, Engro Foods, Treet Corporation, Nishat Chunian, Dewan Farooq Motors, PTCL, Fatima Fertilizer and National Bank were succumbed of profit taking. The advancing stocks were ahead of the declining ones, as out of a total of 93 active issues, 25 companies posted gains, 14 suffered declines while 54 companies stayed glued to their previous closing.
Ferozsons Laboratories gained Rs 9.55, Millat Tractors was improved by Rs 8.67, Honda Atlas Cars was appreciated by Rs 8.34 while Glaxo Smith Kline and Cherat Cement were up by Rs 4.83 and Rs 2.62, respectively. In the minus column, PPL lost Rs 5.92, OGDC was declined by Rs 4.55, Engro Foods shed Rs 3.65 while Attock Refinery and Treet Corporation were down by Rs 2.95 and Rs 2.91, respectively. Dewan Farooq Motors was the market leader whose 197,000 shares changed hands followed by NIB Bank with 110,000 shares.
