A full bench of Lahore High Court here on Tuesday issued notices to Attorney General of Pakistan and Advocate General of Punjab for fortnight in a petition seeking a judicial inquiry into Model Town incident by a commission comprising judges of Supreme Court.
As bench resumed hearing, advocate Azhar Siddique argued on behalf of the petitioner that inquiry tribunal of LHC judge constituted by Punjab government was not given the mandate to fix responsibility of the authorities involved in Model Town incident. He pleaded that an independent and empowered commission of Supreme Court judges should be formed to fix the responsibility of the incident. The counsel also asked the court to order the Punjab government to public the report of the inquiry held by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi.
