Punjab Assembly on Tuesday through an adopted resolution urged the federal government to issue blue passports to Members of Provincial Assemblies (MPAs) and diplomatic passports to speakers and deputy speakers. The resolution, presented during a session presided over by Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, suggested that blue passports be issued only on the recommendations by the federal government.
The Punjab Assembly also passed unanimously a resolution presented by MPA Sheikh Allaudin demanding of the provincial government to adopt adequate measures to get rid of menace of narcotics. The resolution termed narcotics as menace increasingly injurious to our new generation particularly in colleges and universities. Another resolution presented by MPA Hina Pervaiz Butt and accepted by the house demanded that clips of those girls affected by heinous crimes should not be showed on the television channels.
She, in the resolution, pointed that barring the channels from showing their clips would put a stop on further humiliation of affected girl victims. Another resolution by MPA Syed Waseem Akhtar applauding services of journalist Late Majeed Nizami was kept in pending for a later session. Parliamentary Secretary Co-operative Department Iqbal Channar replying to a query in the session said that this department has 60 properties in Lahore.
Parliamentary Secretary Co-operatives replying to another question put by MPA Aisha Javed said that though allotments in LDA Employees Housing Scheme Niaz Beg Thokkar have been done under bye-laws, its map has yet been not approved by the department. In reply to a question, Parliamentary Secretary Culture Rana said that repair and maintenance work in Lahore museum was done by Communication and Works Department last year. Parliamentary Secretary Co-operatives to a query told that LDA Employees Co-operative Society was established under section 10 of Co-operatives Society Act 1925 on 10-3-1980. The house was later adjourned by the chair for today 10:00am.
