The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan, said that restoration of peace and normalisation in Federal Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) is the foremost requirement for efficient implementation of development projects and wherever it will become possible, the respective tribal people will definitely be benefited on priority basis.
He expressed these views while presiding over a high level meeting regarding IDPs of Khyber Agency here at Governor House Peshawar. Besides Additional Chief Secretary FATA, Azam Khan, Principal Secretary to Governor, Dr Muhammad Fakhre Alam, DG FDMA, Anila Durrani, DG PDMA, Political Agent Khyber Agency and other relevant officials participated in the meeting.
A detailed briefing was also given from political agent of Khyber Agency on current law and order situation and IDPs condition in the Agency and highlighted the steps taken to overcome the problems and issues in this regard. Governor directed the political administration to take austerity measures to ensure that all the basic facilities are provided to all the displaced persons in general and from Khyber Agency in specific and instructed to make all-out efforts to help and assist affected persons.
The Governor said while directing the relevant authorities that the Political administration should co-ordinate their efforts to move forward collectively and go ahead with the tribal communities along. He said Law and order and repatriation of IDPs in FATA is the core issue and the political officers should play their proactive role to ensure more improvement.
Governor said that our government will stand with the displaced people to serve them speedily. He said repatriation and rehabilitation of the displaced persons as well as provision of all basic needs would be the top priority of the government. He said that the role of political administration in respective areas is very important and they should realise their responsibilities while performing their duties and no compromise would be accepted in this regard. He said that political administration should focus on the development initiatives in FATA.
The Governor directed that the grievances and complaints of tribesmen of Bara should be addressed properly and added that the process of return of IDPs to their homes should be accelerated and facilitated. He stressed that FATA people must be given relief and directed that a working mechanism should be devised to overcome the procedural problems.
Later on, Sikandar Hayat, the Chairman Governor's Inspection Team was called by the KP Governor, Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan at Governor's House, Peshawar. He remained with the Governor for some time and discussed matters pertaining to his assignments. He also apprised him about working of the Governor's Inspection Team in FATA as well as its role in ensuring better well- being of the deserving persons.
