The Karachi Port handled 102,703 tonnes of cargo comprising 77,729 tonnes of import cargo and 24,974 tonnes of export cargo including 5,006 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 77,729 tonnes comprised of 48,469 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,241 tonnes of general cargo; 17,570 tonnes of bulk cargo: 2,418 tonnes of wheat; 4,484 tonnes of DAP; 1,879 tonnes of soyabean meal; 8,789 tonnes of rock phosphate and 5,449 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 24,974 tonnes comprised of 13,317 tonnes of containerised cargo; 338 tonnes of general cargo; 6,244 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,124 tonnes of cement and 5,120 tonnes of loose bulk cement and 5,075 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,006 containers comprising 3,230 containers import and 1,776 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,251 of 20's and 987 of 40's loaded while 5 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 367 of 20's and 197 of 40's loaded containers while 497 of 20's and 259 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were three ships namely OOCL Chicago, Histria Agata and Henricus-J carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. APL Guangzhou, Cosco Kawasaki, Northern Guild, Uni Premier, Chembulk Singapore, Asbong-I and Somerset carrying containers, oil tanker and cement respectively currently at the berths. There were four ships namely Uni Premier, Hyundai Colombo, Asbong-I and King Brave carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on friday, while another ship namely Cosco Kawasaki carrying containers is expected to sail on Saturday. There are four vessels viz. KMTC Mumbai, Bright World, Urania and Busan Star carrying containers, chemical and wheat respectively due to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 117,032 tonnes comprising 84,370 tonnes of import cargo and 32,662 export cargo inclusive 1,159 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 84,370 tonnes includes 51,395 tonnes of furnace oil; 6,700 tonnes of edible oil; 7,900 tonnes of wheat and 18,375 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 32,662 tonnes includes 26,698 tonnes of cement and 5,964 tonnes of containerised cargo. There were two ships namely CV APL Oman and MT Quetta with containers and furnace oil sailed out sea on Friday morning, while four ships namely CV Alliance Rickmond, CV ER Denmark, CV Hugo Schulte and MT Ginga Panther carrying containers and edible oil are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV Alliance Rickmond, CV ER Denmark, CV Hugo Schulte, CV APL Oman, MV Kai Hong, MV Zulal, MV Incle Karadeniz, MT Quetta and MT Ginga Panther currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, wheat, cement, furnace oil and edible oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as six ships namely Glory Trader, Polaris, Flag Mersinidi, Ashanda, Sea Luck-II and Rio Daytona with sun flower seed, edible oil, wheat, seed, furnace oil and chemical are at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There were five vessels viz. CV Alliance Rickmond, CV ER Denmark, CV Hugo Schulte, CV APL Oman and MT Ginga Panther carrying containers and edible oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday. There are two ships namely MT Ashanda and MT Polaris with furnace oil and edible oil due to arrive on Friday.
