Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI ) Chairman Imran Khan vowed here on Friday to introduce uniform education system in new Pakistan, saying prevailing different curriculum's have created a wedge between the rich and the poor. Expressing these views at the PTI's D-Chowk sit-in, he said that after creation of Pakistan, children form rich class were studying in English medium schools, while the children of poor were getting education from Urdu medium schools which created class difference.
He said that the country which was pursuing three types of education system - English medium, Urdu medium and Madrassa - has developed three different cultures having no connection with each other. "We will introduce one curriculum for the whole country to create one nation." he declared.
Deploring that poor students were not getting opportunity to compete and move forward, he said that 800, 000 students are studying in English medium schools, 30 million in Urdu medium and 0.3 million in Madrassa. He said that in European countries, the government education system is much superior than the private sector schools, while in our country it is quite reverse. He said that there is no uniformity in teaching staff in the schools of urban and rural areas.
He said that our target is to get people out of poverty in new Pakistan as China in 20 years has brought 40m people above the poverty line. He said that 60 per cent of Pakistan's population is below 25-year of age and if they are equipped with technical education, the growth rate of the country would increase rapidly.
He said that Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari were happy that Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) has wrapped up its sit-in, but we are ideological people and will not leave the sit-in venue till achieving our objectives. "People are not coming here for ministries or perks and privileges," he said, adding that "party will bring up those people who are following ideology and there is no comparison of `Janoon' with personal interests. My selection will be better leadership for future of the country." Lauding women for playing a historical role in the struggle for new Pakistan, he said: "We have to struggle for the future of our children for new Pakistan."
He said that one of the reasons for inflated electricity bills was due to Wapda's and distribution companies act of installing new meters which are 30 to 35 per cent faster than the old ones. At the outset, the PTI chief said that "Go Nawaz Go" movement will touch its peak on November 30.
