A divergent trend was witnessed on the currency market on Monday, dealers said. The rupee managed to gain 19 paisa in terms of the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 103.06 and Rs 103.08, they said.
INTERBANK MARKET RATES: OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee, however, shed 10 paisa versus the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 103.00 and Rs 103.20, they said. The rupee also depreciated by 25 piasa in relation to the euro for buying and selling at Rs 130.50 and Rs 130.75, they said.
In the first Asian trade, the euro held firm after the European Central Bank's (ECB) stress tests found smaller capital shortfalls among European banks than expected, lending a tailwind to the recovery in risk sentiment over the past week.
Twenty-five out of the euro zone's 130 top lenders failed landmark health checks at the end of last year but most have since repaired their finances, the ECB said on Sunday. The dollar was at Rs 61.28 versus the Indian rupee, the greenback was at 3.2750 in terms of the Malaysian ringgit and the US currency was available at 6.115 in relation to the Chinese yuan. The dollar opened at Rs 103 (buying) and Rs 103.10 (selling) against same overnight rate. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 103 (buying) and Rs 103.10 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 164 (buying) and Rs 164.10 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 164 (buying) and Rs 164.10 (selling).
LAHORE The Pak rupee appreciated against the dollar on the open currency markets of Lahore on Monday. The dollar opened at Rs 103.10 (buying) and Rs 103.15 (selling) against Rs 103.20 and Rs 103.40 of Saturday. The dollar lost its worth and closed at Rs 103.00 and Rs 103.25 on buying and selling counters, respectively. On the other hand, the British pound-rupee parity remained unchanged. Pound Sterling was purchased and sold at Rs 165.50 and Rs 166.00 against same previous rate.

On the other hand, the British pound-rupee parity remained unchanged. Pound Sterling was purchased and sold at Rs 165.50 and Rs 166.00 against same previous rate.
