Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting and National Heritage Pervaiz Rashid on Monday asked India to fulfil its commitment made with world on Kashmir dispute as it acknowledged the United Nation resolution pertaining to Kashmiris' right to self-determination.
Addressing International Kashmir Conference here, the minister stressed the need to resolve the long-standing Kashmir dispute between Pakistan and India according to will of people of Kashmir. He added that both Pakistan and India had agreed to fulfil UN Security Council's resolutions and committed to respect Kashmiris' right to self-determination.
"We are not issuing any new demand to India only asking it to fulfil the commitment made by their ancestors at the UN about giving right to self-determination to people of Kashmir," the minister maintained. Talking about the Million March in which thousands of people came out on the streets of the British capital to express solidarity with the citizens of Indian-held Kashmir in their decades-long struggle for the right to self-determination, Rashid lauded the role of political parties for exhibiting unity on Kashmir cause. He said all political parties despite their differences are united on Kashmir issue.
