Punjab Minister for Food and Chairman Cabinet Price Control Committee Bilal Yaseen has directed the districts administration across the province to ensure reduction in the prices of daily use items to provide relief to the masses.
These directives were issued by him while chairing a meeting of the committee here on Monday. He said that the civil administration should ensure strict implementation of the government orders with regard to control on the soaring prices. The meeting was also attended by the members of the Punjab Assembly, provincial secretaries of different departments and Director General of the Punjab Food Authority.
Secretary Industries Punjab informed the meeting that prices of potatoes had registered decrease since the arrival of new crop in the market while prices of onion and tomatoes were also dropping. The Secretary Food said that the magistrates had been made active to ensure sale of sugar at Rs 57 per kilogram at the district level while actions were also being taken to ensure sale of milk, roti and naan at government prescribed prices.
