LHC approached: voter seeks to notify resignation of opposition leader

A voter of PP-151, Lahore has approached the Lahore High Court praying to direct Speaker Punjab Assembly to notify the resignation of Opposition leader Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed in the assembly. Petitioner Abdul Rasheed Sindhu stated in his petition that the speaker had no power to reject the resignation of any member. He said under the Article 64 of the Constitution, resignation of a MPA deemed to be accepted after its submission. He therefore said the speaker had no jurisdiction to reject the resignation.
