Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan on Tuesday accepted the resignation of two provincial ministers belonging to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). The ministers, whose resignations have been accepted, are Sindh Health Minister Dr Sagheer Ahmed and Sindh Minister for Industry and Commerce Rauf Siddiqui.
On October 19, MQM announced to part ways with the PPP-led Sindh government over Pakistan People's Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's public criticism of MQM chief Altaf Hussain. Meanwhile, the Governor signed the Sindh Local Government (Amendment) Act 2014, transferring the powers of delimitation to Election Commission of Pakistan. The bill was unanimously passed by the Sindh Assembly on Monday in the light of Supreme Court orders. The new amended law authorises ECP to carry out delimitation of union councils in municipal committees, town committees and corporations.
